In the midst of the largest increase of illegal immigration into the United States, mostly organized and directed by criminal organizations, ICE SVU, which is a pejorative for the component of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) Homeland Security Investigations (HSI). A pejorative is used because ICE SVU has been deliberately ignoring the investigation of and arrest of illegal aliens since its inception after the creation of the Department of Homeland Security (DHS).

ICE SVU was supposed to replace and combine the investigative functions of the legacy U.S. Customs Service (USCS) Office of Investigations and the legacy U.S. Immigration and Naturalization Service (INS) Office of Investigations, at first called, unsurprisingly, the Office of Investigations, the re-imagined as HSI without either Presidential or Congressional authorization. From it’s inception the investigative arm of ICE was dominated by legacy USCS Special Agents, supervisors, and managers, customs pukes in the parlance of the day. Instead of a merger, it was a hostile takeover of the new component and to the detriment of immigration enforcement, which for all practical purposes ended. The insanity of this deliberate ending of interior immigration enforcement by ICE SVU, cumulating in the customs pukes and ICE SVU deliberately and publicly sabotaging the attempts by the Trump Administration to jump start immigration enforcement. While that was intolerable sabotage by the bureaucrats, it became even worse under the Biden Regime when ICE SVU abandoned all pretense of either immigration or customs enforcement to concentration on being the Sex Police, or even the bunko squad, reminiscent of their self-assigned duty of policing strip clubs.

But ICE SVU has again gone to the bunko squad investigations during the current mass smuggling of illegal aliens into the United States.

Four Arizona residents were sentenced June 8 to significant prison terms in connection with their schemes to fraudulently obtain millions of dollars in Paycheck Protection Program loans, a federal loan initiative designed to help businesses pay their employees and meet expenses during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) assisted the FBI, the Internal Revenue Service’s Criminal Investigation division, and the Small Business Administration’s Office of Inspector General.

4 Arizona Swindlers Sentenced For Paycheck Protection Program Fraud After HSI Phoenix Investigation, ICE Press Release, June 12, 2023

Now, generally fraud in government programs are supposed to be investigated by the appropriate Office of Inspector General (OIG) in the agency affected by the fraud. In the case of COVID relief fraud, the programs were administered by multiple departments, but the amount of fraud was so huge, about $500 billion, that the understaffed OIGs could not handle the case-work. In such circumstances, the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) is supposed to step in and take of the slack in case work. That is one of the purposes of the FBI, to investigate fraud in government programs. Generally they do so in support of the OIGs, since the OIGs have the specialist knowledge of programs that the FBI does not. However, fraud, no matter how enormous, is not something the FBI wants to do. The FBI instead is desperately seeking the Great White Racist Terrorist Defendant, who never seems to appear, though January 6 grandmas walking in the People’s House will do for them.

So, enter ICE SVU; no immigration or drug enforcement for them, instead they will hunt COVID relief fraudsters, not exactly something imagined by the Homeland Security Act of 2002, which assigned what was to be ICE a role in enforcing customs and immigration laws. A review of their press releases show that there are none for work-site enforcement, area control, or general immigration enforcement, but plenty for COVID cases, as well as arresting a White American for printing out COVID vaccination cards.

Time for Congress to crack down on ICE SVU and put it to work enforcing immigration and customs laws.
