Early on Monday September 4, 2023 (Labor Day) ZeroHedge posted The Real Shocker In Friday’s Jobs Report: 1.2 Million Native-Born Workers Lost Their Jobs, And Were Replaced With 668K Foreign-Born Workers, by Tyler Durden.

(Unfortunately for the public, but understandably, this article was part of their premium service, which is not cheap. I think it worthwhile for anyone seriously interested in the intersection of American political and economic life.)

The writer of the article, rather than the headline, was more interested in the immediate scandal represented by the numbers:

…the details inside the report showed just how ugly the August nonfarm payroll report truly was … we have now seen downward monthly payrolls revisions for every single month in 2023, a statistically improbable outcome without some political interference.

At VDARE, however, we join with the headline writer on concentrating on the impact the Biden No Borders policy is having on native-born Americans.

Eight paragraphs down ZeroHedge announces:

…there was something even more important that we missed, which is ironic because just this past Thursday we wrote that ”Immigrants Are Getting 160,000 Jobs Per Month, As Foreign-Born US Workforce Hits All-Time High.” We are referring to the demographic composition of August jobs, which was—for lack of a better word—shocking.

After laying out the facts supplying the headline ZeroHedge summarizes:

Put another way, the US has created exactly zero native-born jobs since the covid crash: in fact, native-born jobs peaked at 131.721 million in October 2019 and as of August, the number remains lower at 131.031 million.

On the other hand, the number of foreign born–jobs just hit a new record high of 31.396 million, and is some 2.5 million higher compared to the 27.8 million pre-covid high hit in March 2019.

and (after the chart above) gives the punchline:

Said otherwise, all job creation in the past 4 years has been exclusively for foreign-born workers!

ZeroHedge hopefully concludes:

This … is … about to become a huge political scandal, ”that may not be an issue when the US population if bombarded with false propaganda about record high employment, once the recession hits, there will be many angry unemployed Americans demanding a more accurate explanation for what happened—i.e., the illegal immigration floodgates that were opened by the Biden admin.”

National Data has not been posted since then for the simple reason that NYAG Letitia James’ lynching-by-subpoena attempt has taken up too much of VDARE. com Editor Peter Brimelow’s time.

However, seeing ZeroHedge picking up the baton on the immigrant share of employment issue, there seems to be a silver lining.

VDARE has been publishing regularly on this matter for over 20 years. In all that time, there was close to zero pickup by the MSM, including ZeroHedge.

With the VDARE taint removed from the analytical technique, it seems that higher-integrity platforms like ZeroHedge feel brave enough to employ it.

In which case Letitia James will have shot herself in her ugly foot.
