WaPo’s Charles Lane Says Administrative Amnesty Is Coming. So Is Impeachment! (You Heard It First On VDARE.com)

On immigration reform, President Obama as emancipator? asks Leftist Big Foot Charles Lane in the Washington Post (August 6, 2014).  His argument:

Not since Abraham Lincoln pondered his Emancipation Proclamation in 1862 has a president considered ordering a more sweeping adjustment to membership in the American community than the mass relief for illegal immigrants that President Obama is said to be contemplating

The proposal that’s being bandied about — offering up to 5 million undocumented parents of U.S. citizens and others the same two-year renewable reprieves from deportation plus work permits that Obama already ordered for undocumented residents who arrived as children….would be constitutionally dubious, politically explosive and flatly contradictory to his own recently expressed views.

It would also bring many hard-working people out of the shadows, make generations of Latinos into Democrats and secure a place in history for its author.

And it might be impossible to stop.

Four years ago, about an earlier bandying, I wrote Obama`s Immigration Speech: Stop Laughing, He`s Serious. I’m happy to say the analysis holds up. Obama is a racial radical. Not merely conservatives, but also dismayed white liberals (about whom Obama couldn’t care less), are in for a rough ride.

Of course, Administrative Amnesty is not “impossible to stop.” Obama can be impeached—the point, which Lane doesn’t get, being not to convict him, but to spend from now to the November election arguing about illegal immigration.

That’s an argument that the Democrats would certainly lose.
