A young man named Sebastian Kurz has won the election in Austria for the immigration patriot People's Party—a populist party, as you can guess from its name—taking everyone by surprise, including me. Drudge has a collection of headlines showing how shocked people are:
Austrian 'whizz-kid' triumphs in election... Rise of Sebastian Kurz; Anti-immigration millennial... The world's youngest leader... New nationalists take charge... Rightward Lurch Europe's New Normal... Populists set to thrash traditional parties in Czech vote...
As far as I can tell, the only time Kurz has personally been mentioned here is when he met with Secretary Of State John Kerry in 2016, and the Post ran this headline:
Austrian officials say Europe, not smugglers, must decide which migrants make it

By Carol Morello April 4, 2016

European nations must step up humanitarian aid to countries in the Middle East hosting displaced persons so more people can stay there safely, and Europe should open its doors primarily to the most vulnerable asylum seekers, Austria’s foreign minister said Monday.

“Our goal is that we decide who can come to Europe, and we decide who we help, and that we don’t let the smugglers decide,” Sebastian Kurz said in an interview before he met with Secretary of State John F. Kerry. …

“I understand they are looking for a better life in Austria, Germany and Sweden,” Kurz said. “But it’s our job as politicians to create systems that can work. The concept of no borders is not going to work.”[More]

Steve Sailer remarked at the time that "A high government official saying 'The concept of no borders is not going to work' is news." While it may have shocked the Post, apparently the Austrians like it.
