It's Veteran's Day today, the anniversary of the 1918 Armistice.

As we honor our veterans, here's what the Obama administration is doing to the Army. First, it's closing ROTC programs in the South and refocusing them in "urban" areas in the North.

Some colleges in the South are unhappy with the U.S. military. The Pentagon wants to put more of its Reserve Officer's Training Corps recruiting programs into more urban areas and plans to close R.O.T.C. programs at 13 universities to pay for it — more than half of which are in the South.

The R.O.T.C. offers scholarships to students in return for later military service. Some prospective students pick colleges because of its R.O.T.C. program, and now might find themselves without the stipend they were depending on to pay for school.

"[The Army is], frankly, trying to recalibrate their recruiting footprint around the country," says reporter Alan Blinder, who wrote about the Army's plan for The New York Times. "They focused on programs that weren't meeting their minimum threshold for officer production, and the Army believes that the money and the manpower could be spent better elsewhere."

They say, of course, that it's driven purely by numbers. I believe it's because they don't like the idea of a white Southern officer corps.

Second, they're lecturing white soldiers who are already in the Army on "white privilege."

A controversial 600-plus page manual used by the military to train its Equal Opportunity officers teaches that "healthy, white, heterosexual, Christian" men hold an unfair advantage over other races, and warns in great detail about a so-called "White Male Club."
“Simply put, a healthy, white, heterosexual, Christian male receives many unearned advantages of social privilege, whereas a black, homosexual, atheist female in poor health receives many unearned disadvantages of social privilege,” reads a statement in the manual created by the Defense Equal Opportunity Management Institute (DEOMI).

A " black, homosexual, atheist female in poor health" may deserve our sympathy (or not) but she's just about the most useless person I can imagine for soldiering.

As for the Northern and urban recruiting, white Southerners do have a cultural advantage over both black and white urbanites in the Northeast—they can shoot. In the year 2000, Ann Coulter wrote

The whole country's military history is shot through with Southerners. Phil Caputo, liberal in good standing and author of the anti-Vietnam book "Rumor of War," was one of the first Marines in Vietnam, as a second lieutenant in 1965. He talks about how his best soldiers were Southerners: They could walk for hours and hit anything—as he puts it—just like their Confederate grandfathers.
The men that form the core of Stephen Ambrose's book "Citizen Soldier," a true account of fighting on the German front in World War II, are heavily Southern. The first Marine awarded the Medal of Honor in World War II, Hank Elrod, was from Georgia. Dwight Eisenhower was born in Texas. A vast number of military bases in this country are named after Confederate officers.

That's another thing that's going to change. It's all part of the Minority Occupation Government effect.
