The last homicide of 2015 in New York City occurred shortly before midnight in the borough of Queens.

The victim's body was discovered outside a building at Merrick Boulevard and 109th Avenue at 11:47 p.m.

Law-enforcement sources said he was fatally shot once in the neck while hanging out at a second-floor apartment belonging to Natalie Placencia, 49.

Police found his body in the street, wrapped in a bedsheet.

Placencia had come home and found the body in her son Eddie’s bed, and the room was drenched in blood. When Placencia asked her son what had happened, he simply told her, “Mind your business,” sources said.

She then stood by and watched as her son attempted to haul the body out of the apartment, and her boyfriend, Dorian Carr, helped him carry it out, sources said. [Teen’s death caps off city’s murder-plagued 2015 by Shawn Cohen, Bob Fredericks and Chris Perez; New York Post, January 2, 2016.]

The victim was only 16, and so presumably he was born in 1999.  What particularly caught my eye, though, was his name:  Jihad Jackson.
