He also said he's willing to take the heat for pushing for illegal alien students to be able to get taxpayer-funded financial aid and college scholarships."Our country is better than that, to punish children for what their parents did in breaking the law. If that costs me the election, it costs me the election, but somewhere along the line we cannot just pander to the anger and hostility without challenging it," he said.[Immigration group: Huckabee a 'disaster' By Stephen Dinan, The Washington Times, November 30, 2007]
This is the same psychological flaw George Bush displayed when he glorified illegal aliens—calling them "good-hearted people who are coming here to work" and similar comments.

Huckabee just feels so much "compassion" for illegal immigrants that he can't help giving them money—not his money, your money.

Obviously, by the time an illegal alien is old enough to go to college, he's not a child anymore. And it's not punishing someone to refuse to pay for their college education. They could always pay for it themselves, couldn't they? Or ask the Mexican government to create a scholarship fund. Or go to the University of Mexico.

Taxpayers should take note that Candidate Huckabee wants to give their money to illegal aliens—and Republicans should be warned that he doesn't care if his pandering to illegals costs them the election, too.

That's not to say I'm endorsing his opponents—just that you should know that he's willing to put this anti-principle above party loyalty, as he is to put it above loyaly to the United States, whose border he would be responsible for defending, if he's elected.
