What's a horrendous immigrant mass murder (Refugee Rampage in Salt Lake in which a Bosnian teenager killed five people) without a hand-wringing fear-of-backlash convulsion by community elites?

Mind you, nothing has happened to any of the 3000 Bosnians who live in Salt Lake, other than a few harsh words. But the Protectors of Diversity have swung into action to reaffirm their allegiance to multiculturalism and remind the little citizens what they should believe.

Now, state and local officials say that the rage and grief after the multiple killings here in a shopping mall Monday by an 18-year-old Bosnian immigrant threaten a backlash, and they announced plans on Wednesday for outreach meetings and candlelight vigils to head off trouble and help the city heal. Nothing makes me feel more kumbaya than an uplifting candlelight vigil celebrating diversity.
