The State of Illinois has announced that illegal aliens in the United States will be eligible for $9,000 in housing benefits. This is quite illegal, as illegal aliens are not eligible for housing benefits in the United States. Despite recent opening of welfare benefits to more aliens by the Biden Regime, illegal aliens remain ineligible for most welfare benefits, except for statutory eligibility in the Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) program, for example. Otherwise illegal aliens are prohibited from participation in any program, including public housing programs.

But Illinois has decided to extend blank housing vouchers to all illegal aliens, including those aliens in deportation proceedings.

Currently, the state is funding temporary housing, including rented apartments and homes for migrants. The state is providing up to $9,000 in rental assistance over a 6-month period, which includes assistance with moving in and a starter kit to furnish the apartment.

“That rent lasts for six months and ideally people would have started their legal process, secured legal work authorization and be able to sustain that apartment. And so the cost, or I guess the payment toward the landlord is based on market rate, it’s based on the configuration of the parament—how many rooms, where it’s located—all those things. And so it varies from place to place,” said Ald. Pacione-Zayas…

The city has allocated $4 million to assist migrants in obtaining temporary housing, with the state contributing an additional $38 million. At present, 30 to 40 case management workers from Catholic Charities are actively working to secure temporary housing for thousands of migrants, with efforts underway to hire more.

So-called asylum applicants—there is no evidence that any of the aliens have applied for asylum—remain illegal aliens, so are statutorily ineligible for such housing benefits, as well as the myriad of other benefits that the Federal, State, and local governments provide.

In the 1980s the nation was concerned about defining deviancy down, but today the Biden Regime is defining illegal alien down. It won’t be long before there will be no such thing as any welfare program for which illegal aliens aren’t eligible.
