CRETE, Neb. — A worker entered the lunchroom of a cold-storage facility in eastern Nebraska and started firing a handgun, wounding three employees before going outside to shoot himself in the head, authorities said today.

Saline County Attorney Tad Eickman identified the gunman at the Americold Logistics plant near Crete as 26-year-old Akouch Kashoual of Lincoln.[More]

"Akouch Kashoual of Lincoln" is good. They say that so that people don't think that other people named Akouch Kashoual in Fremont, Gothenburg, and Pawnee Springs, Nebraska have been acting up. Actually, of course, it's Akouch Kashoual of Egypt.

Another story says that

...[I]nvestigation continues into the shooter's motive.

An aunt who answered the phone at Kashoual's home Thursday said the family has no idea what prompted the violence.

"This kid didn't talk to nobody," said the aunt.

She said her nephew did not leave a note and had never mentioned any problems at his workplace. He had lived in Lincoln since about 2007, she said. The family immigrated from Egypt.

The victims are still alive—a combination of Egyptian marksmanship and American emergency medicine kept any of them from dying, which makes Kashoual's suicide kind of pointless. If he  pleaded guilty to attempted murder and wounding, he'd probably be back on the street—the American street—in 2017.

Also, all three victims have Hispanic   names. Apparently you can't fire off gun in a Nebraska cold storage plant without hitting three Mexican immigrants.
