A Missouri Philatelist Says The War On Christmas Is Underway At All US
Post Offices
During the War Against Christmas, I'm surprised that philatelist and letter writer Jerome Van Dyke didn't mention that the Eid stamp issued by the United States Post Office celebrates two Muslim holidays, Eid Al-Fitr and Eid Al-Adha, both nowhere close to Christmas.
Ironically, even though Muslims don't believe in Christ, the U.S. government sees fit to honor Islam with what is in effect a Christmas stamp.
This is political correctness gone crazy. If it had not been for a Muslim write-in campaign, the stamp would never have been considered. [US Muslims Push Stamp as Symbol of Acceptance, by Laurie Goodstein, New York Times, November 21, 2001]
Here's what all Americans should remember if the post office tries to sell you an Eid stamp: the Muslim bombings of Pan Am Flight 103, the World Trade Center, U.S. Marine barracks in Lebanon, military barracks in Saudi Arabia, American embassies in Africa, the USS Cole and 9/11.
