A
Concerned Reader Writes From Occupied Arizona
A Reader Reflects On That Affirmative Action Bake Sale.
From: Phillip Thomas
A group of Southern Methodist University
conservatives held an “Affirmative Action”
bake sale the other day.
Associated Press
reports that
“A sign
said white males had to pay $1 for a cookie. The price
was 75 cents for white women, 50 cents for Hispanics and
25 cents for blacks.”
When asked about his
feelings on the event, an outraged young black man named
Matt Houston came up with the following gem:
"My reaction was disgust
because of the ignorance of some SMU students. They were
arguing that affirmative action was solely based on
race. It's not based on race. It's based on bringing a
diverse community to a certain organization."
I am disappointed to note
that Matt’s major
seems to be Marketing, as
a degree in, say, Government might prepare him for the
life of politics he was born for. The
politically-correct
newspeak does seem to roll off his tongue.
We have another classic in
the same article. After shutting down the bake sale, a
spokesman for SMU said:
"This was not an issue about
free speech," Tim Moore, director of the SMU student
center, said in a story for Thursday's edition of
The Dallas Morning News. "It was really an issue
where we had a hostile environment being created."[VDARE.COM
NOTE: The Dallas Morning News says in
an editorial that Mr. Moore was full of it, or as they
more conventionally put it, “exactly wrong.”]
Goodness! We can’t have anyone questioning the
liberal orthodoxy. That would be hostile!
One could speculate how many seconds the
ACLU would hold off from suing if a black or
“Chicano”
student activity had been cracked down on. But
physics has yet to devise a measurement small enough to
calculate this.
