In Response To The Pew Hispanic Center…
Guzzardi is absolutely right to cite his personal
experiences as valid comment on Hispanics in the
job market
Sometimes pure empirical evidence cannot be denied.
I work in
New York and it seems that over 60 percent of the
office workers are foreign-born.
Many of the Caucasians I encounter are Eastern European.
By the way, a
recent report by the Population Reference Bureau in
Washington, D.C. found that white males older than 65
commit suicide at three times the national rate for
other gender and ethnic groups. The white male suicide
rate increases as white males grow older.
The reason is not surprising. Often, they have been
unemployed for long periods.
Paraphrasing
Martin Luther King: “ If you tell a man he can’t
have a job you are telling him he has no right to exist.”
“Name
Withheld” is twenty years shy of 65, the age at which
the
suicide rate jumps for
white males.
