An Australian Reader Has His Eye On The New York Times

Wave of Pupils Lacking English Strains Schools
New

MAGNOLIA, N.C. - A wave of immigrants in the last 10
years, particularly in
rural areas
far from traditional immigration hubs, has left
school districts across the country desperately
short of people qualified to
teach them English, school and government officials
say.
The number of students with
limited English skills, most of them Hispanic, has
doubled, to five million in the last decade, data from
the United States Department of Education show….
What's significant about this
article is not its content, which is familiar to any
VDARE.COM reader. Nor is it significant that it appeared
in the New York Times.
What is REALLY significant is that
at the time of writing (6 August 2002 at 6:20 pm
Australian Eastern Standard Time) it is top of the list
of the 25 "most
emailed" New York Times articles. It's
occupied that position for the past 9 hours at least.
