I enjoyed your column on immigration and the educational achievement of natives.  You may be interested to know that there is actually a small amount of high quality research that shows that immigration increases the high school drop out rate of natives.  Most of this research has been done by Julian Betts of UC-San Diego.  You can get a quick review of his research by looking at his paper for the Public Policy Institute of California available by clicking here.
