A Reader Questions Paul Harvey’s Enthusiasm For Educating Immigrants

Paul Harvey is a Midwestern, authoritarian conservative, but I had never heard his views on immigration before. This evening's [March 27] Paul Harvey commentary was about a Mexican couple who entered the US illegally, worked as dishwashers, got laid off, and have since eked out a meager living collecting tin cans from dumpsters in LA. The point he was leading to is that they are sending their three children to college.

Wait a minute-who's sending the children to college? I am. They're obviously on full scholarship plus. Harvey emphasized that the parents are now American citizens. Sure they are, either because their US-citizen children got them legalized, or because of the Alan Simpson amnesty.
