Re: Joe Guzzardi’s Column:
Say It Isn’t So! Bruce Springsteen Is An Open Borders
Advocate
I enjoyed Guzzardi’s piece on Bruce Springsteen’s
vile immigration tribute in his song American Land.
In November, I saw the same Springsteen concert in
Boston and am sorry to
say that I have to give your readers an annoying Bruce
update.
At our concert and those that immediately followed it
in Europe, Springsteen, in
reference to immigrants and efforts to limit
immigration, replaced the word “down” with
“out” in his song’s last line.
What Guzzardi heard and reported on was: “The
hands that built the country we’re always trying to keep
down.”
Springsteen’s revised version is “The hands that
built the country we’re always trying to keep out.”

here on You Tube at about the 2:40 mark.
I suppose when you reach a point in your life when
you have more money than you can possibly spend, like
Springsteen,
Ted Danson,
Sean Penn and
others, you try to assuage your feelings of guilt by
rallying around the proverbial little guy.
Pity that we in the
middle class have no such advocates, only
obligations.
