You have to love how the New York Times reports on the "bad-mannered" heckling, but doesn't delve into the Rep. Joe Wilson's charge that Obama is lying when he says the healthcare bill doesn't cover illegals.

The NYT would prefer to sweep the issue under the carpet: "Other Democrats said they did not want to dwell on the outburst or allow it overshadow what they saw as an effective address by the president." [In Lawmakers Outburst, A Rare Breach of Protocol, by Charles Hulse, New York Times, September 10, 2009]

Yeah, you bet they don't want to dwell on it—for fear Americans will learn the truth!

The AP then plays the fool in its so-called "fact checking" article:

 OBAMA: "The reforms I'm proposing would not apply to those who are here illegally."

AP: "The facts back up Obama. The House version of the health care bill explicitly prohibits spending any federal money to help illegal immigrants get health care coverage. Illegal immigrants could buy private health insurance, as many do now, but wouldn't get tax subsidies to help them.... Still, Republicans say there are not sufficient citizenship verification requirements to ensure illegal immigrants are excluded from benefits they are not due." Sure Obama says his healthcare proposal won't cover illegals, but the Democrats have voted down all the Republican amendments that require strict identification.

So Obama and Democrats, with the Main Stream Media playing dumb, pull over a big one on the American public.

But with a wink and a nod to the Hispanic Caucus—there is no serious verification requirement.

We just can't win when the MSM fails to seriously look into whether the Obamacare will, in reality, cover illegals or not.

Peter Brimelow comments: Well, that's what VDARE.COM is for! I continue to think that Obamacare's covering legal immigrants is an even bigger story. But not even conservative talk radio seems to want to touch it.
