Fulford's Blog:
North Carolina High Schools Want To Ignore History
Pre-1877
To those who are upset by Fulford's
blog that pre-1877 American
History will no longer be taught in
North Carolina, I'm saddened to tell you that
the curriculum doesn't matter.
Whether it is pre or post-1877,
students have no interest in
history, civics, English
literature or any other of the subjects that were
once drilled into our heads.
We live in the age of the cell phone,
the iPod and video
games.
Parental support and encouragement for learning has
all but vanished.
This is painful for you to
contemplate but much worse for me as an instructor to
live with.
I probably don't need to remind you
that
Fandetti teaches middle
school in a major North Carolina city.
