Note the reference to “Miranda rights”: The late Ernesto Miranda was a Hispanic armed robber and rapist who was granted a retrial after the Supreme Court found that the police hadn’t informed him of his rights: “He was paroled in 1972, and died in 1976 at the age of 34, after being stabbed in a bar fight. Paul Begala wrote on the CNN blog that “The president calls for liberalizing immigration laws -- allowing illegal immigrants to stay here. That's usually death for a Republican, but he's doing it. Good for him.” What's really death for a republican is seeking and getting the approval of the Paul Begalas of this world. |
