This is what I saw on the Drudge Report:
Vandals Deface Vietnam War Memorial...

Covered in graffiti...

MAN DRIVES THROUGH KENTUCKY MEMORIAL CROSS DISPLAY...

CRIME SCENE DECLARED AFTER LOOTING AT VIRGINIA BATTLEFIELD...

Drudge Report, May 29, 2016

The vandals in Venice Beach who did the graffiti on a Vietnam War memorial wall, "tagging" the names of the fallen with illegible gang-type symbols appear to be the usual suspects who tag normal buildings—local Hispanic gang members.
People on this street said the memorial was tagged a few days ago. They said the graffiti matches some of the other ones in the neighborhood.

The Los Angeles Police Department said it is not investigating the case.

I suppose an inquisitive newsman could have come up with a specific gang that posted these, and a specific group (Mexican, Salvadoran, Sureno or whatever) but inquisitive newsmen seem to be rare.

In the case of the "Man" who ran over a group of crosses representing dead servicemen in Kentucky, I tweeted about it:

ABC News reported this:

Residents of a Kentucky county are rallying and working frantically to repair and replace a Memorial Day cross display that was damaged by a driver accused of plowing through the crosses.

The cross display in Central Park in Henderson, which is about 130 miles west of Louisville, honors the names of more than 5,000 who served in conflicts dating back to the Revolutionary War.

"It has really upset the entire community," said Jennifer Richmond, a spokeswoman for the Henderson city police department. "This is something you don't do. This is a form of desecration. These people served their country and then someone disrespected their memory in this way, and it's just totally unacceptable."

This specific display represents Henderson's honored dead—Ms. Richmond herself has relatives represented in the display.
The names on the crosses, she said, represent soldiers who died in conflicts or veterans who returned home and later passed, all from the city and county of Henderson. Volunteers and the American Legion put the crosses up in May each year for a Memorial Day remembrance ceremony.

Police got a call just before 6 a.m. Saturday, Richmond said, alerting them that someone had driven through the display at the park.

"Our officers got there and saw that someone drove right through the crosses and essentially plowed them down," Richmond said.

Surveillance footage from nearby, she said, showed a late 1970s model Ford Thunderbird driving on a sidewalk.

The vehicle description, along with Facebook posts from concerned community members, led police to Anthony Burrus, a 27-year-old Henderson resident.

Burrus has been charged with criminal mischief in the first degree and leaving the scene of an accident. Online jail records do not list an attorney for him.

Online jail records, you say? Might those tell us something about Mr. Burrus that newspapers don't generally tell us?  Yes, they say that Mr. Burrus, pictured below, is black.

An inquisitive journalist, looking at the jail records, might have mentioned that, but inquisitive journalists, as you know, are rare. Should we speculate on the motive a young black man in destroying a memorial to American servicemen in the era of Black Lives Matter?

All I know is that there's always a lot of news coverage and speculation whenever a white man does any kind of protest against black symbols, because it's considered a hate crime.  For example, here: Vandals put noose on Ole Miss statue of James Meredith; he speaks out, By Paresh Dave, LA Times,  February 18, 2014.

In discussing the New Yorker cover at left, published during Obama's first run for the Presidency, I said that neither Barack nor Michelle is particularly patriotic in the Lexington and Concord sense. Many African-Americans aren't, because they listen to people like Jeremiah Wright.  Of course, Obama has never actually set a flag on fire. That's not how you get elected President. As Pat Buchanan said "And that flag pin Barack got rid of after 9-11, calling it a "substitute ... for real patriotism"? It's back on the lapel. "

This Memorial Day weekend, Obama was off to Japan to talk about the awfulness of the Hiroshima bombings that save so many American lives.

That's relevant to the fact that if some one is going to deface a memorial to America's honored dead, it's less likely to be a white man.

But if you study the names of the men on the memorial walls, crosses, and actual cemeteries,  you'll find that if someone is volunteering to fight and die for the United States of America, he's more likely to be a white man. And that's worth memorializing.
