Who Cares About The Hispanic Vote? What About the White a.k.a. American Vote?

Governor Romney, in his speech September 17 to something called the U.S. Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, again hinted at a general amnesty (“I will work with Republicans and Democrats to permanently fix our immigration system”) , promised a specific amnesty to illegals who enlist in the military—apparently unaware that, out here in Americaland, the military is an honored profession that citizens compete to enter—and undertook to increase job market competition for college graduates by 1) giving permanent residency to all foreigners earning U.S. advanced degrees and 2) by structuring “our temporary worker visa program so that it meets the needs of our employers”—n.b.  not “our workers.”

Of course, it’s utterly inconceivable that Hispanics will be swayed by this K Street lobbyist’s wish list. Do Romney and his high-paid advisers seriously think Hispanics will get excited about advanced degree holders getting green cards?

And, of course, it’s bad news for immigration patriots.

But it’s even worse news for Republicans.

Forget the Hispanic Hype—the untold story of this campaign is that Romney is doing poorly among whitesthe group known, until the 1965 Immigration Act, as “Americans.”

They will cast over 70% 0f the votes in 2012—some ten times the votes cast by the much-hyped Hispanics.

These are the shares of the white vote garnered by recent GOP Presidential candidates.

Obviously, as America’s post-1965 immigration disaster continues to unfold, the share of the white vote required by the GOP (or “Generic American Party,” as VDARE.com thinks of it) increases.

But it’s still eminently reachable. GOP Congressional candidates got 60% of the white vote in their triumphal 2010 mid-term election.

So how is Romney doing? In a word, TERRIBLE:

  • Rasmussen, which uniquely showed Romney ahead 47%-45% as of September 17, reports Romney is getting just 55% of the white vote.
  • Gallup, which shows Romney behind 45%-48% as of September 16, reports Romney is getting just 54% of the white vote.

What’s particularly odd about this is that Romney’s aides have actually been quoted as saying that they know he needs 60% of the white vote to win.

But what have they done to get it? At VDARE.com, we think patriotic immigration reform would provide an answer to e.g. unemployment, wage stagnation, income inequality, cultural displacement etc. etc. But what’s their theory?

Hello?

More importantly: why haven’t you heard this?

Why haven’t you heard that Romney’s problem is not with Hispanics, but with whites a.k.a. Americans?

Because the Establishment Media, Liberal and “Conservative,” isn’t telling you.
