Friedman leads Radnofsky

After reading Joe Guzzardi's recent article on the Texas Senate and Governor Race, I checked the latest odds in at Intrade.com. It turns out that Friedman or the other independent candidate have between a 5-10% chance of winning the Texas governor seat-which is not only or a chance more than the Democratic candidate for Governor has--but also more than the chance Radnofsky has of winning her Senate race(which according to intrade is less than 4%).

"Designer Pleas" In Denver

I've been away for a couple of days, so I missed this story about Bill Ritter, who was District Attorney in Denver and is now running for Governor of Colorado. The story is this: Ritter's office approved plea bargains specifically designed to keep legal resident aliens in the country, allowing them to plead guilty to the non-felonious offence of "agricultural trespass", in spite of the fact that most of these offences occurred in the highly urbanized "sanctuary city" of Denver.

Leadership And Law Enforcement

Last night I was talking to Bob Park, who as a young Border Patrolman took part in Operation Wetback. He pointed out that Eisenhower didn't have to pass any laws.

Being an illegal alien was already illegal. All it took was for the President of the United States to decide that something should be done, and then do it.

Unfortunately, the reverse is also the case.
