Of course, most murdered black women are murdered by black men. For example, an old study of 2000 data by the Violence Policy Institute found:

Ninety-five percent (575 out of 603) of the homicides of black women where the race of the male offender was known were intra-racial.

If we graph homicide victimizations of non-Hispanic black women and non-Hispanic white women, we see some interesting trends:

The rate of black women dying by homicide from something other than gunfire (fists, stabbing, frying pan, etc.) has fallen quite a bit since the turn of the century. On the other other hand, the trend of black women dying by gunshot surged up during the Ferguson Effect of 2015-16 and even more during the Floyd Effect of 2020.

My guess is that non-guns murders of women tend to be more domestic violence crimes of passion and less bystander at a block party getting shot by knuckleheads aiming at other knuckleheads (like the only fatality of the 20+ victims at the Kansas City Super Bowl parade, a woman in the background who apparently had nothing to do with the participants in the gun battle).

Weirdly, the much predicted rise in domestic violence didn’t much happen during the COVID year of 2020. Instead, there was a big surge of shootings at black social events, with a lot of bystander carnage.
