Here`s an article
from the Wall Street Journal
by Amy Chua of Yale Law School on Chinese mothers. She`s from the Chinese economic elite of the Philippines, a "market-dominant minority"
to use her term in the book World on Fire,
, which I reviewed for VDARE.com here
I must confess that while I was reading the article, I thought it was by the author of The Joy Luck Club
. But that is not Amy Chua, but Amy Tan. That`s because the first story I ever read by Amy Tan was Two Kinds
in The Atlantic
in 1989, which is about what it`s like to have a Chinese mother for a mother. It`s well worth reading.
