Race, the media tell us, doesn't matter when it comes to criminal suspects, so they don't identify criminal suspects by race. Unless it does matter.

Here is the headline and teaser from The Washington Post's front web page in a story about a shooting at a rally for Black Lives Matter in Minneapolis:

Police seek 3 white suspects after 5 people shot near Black Lives Matter protest

Five people who had been protesting the fatal shooting of an African American man in Minneapolis received non-life-threatening wounds after three men fired at demonstrators Monday evening, police said. A protest organizer said the shooters were white supremacists, but police did not confirm or deny the claim.

Here is the headline from the page:
5 people shot near Black Lives Matter protest in Minneapolis, cops searching for 3 white male suspects
And here is the first paragraph:
Simmering racial tensions have boiled over yet again after a small group of white men allegedly shot five people who had been protesting the recent police killing of an African American man in Minneapolis.
And just in case you didn't get it, the suspects are white.
