Center for Immigration Studies Fellow Don Barnett is a leading national expert on the multifarious abuses that our depraved elites inflict upon the rest of us via the nearly-100%-fraudulent refugee and asylum programs.  Barnett had an op-ed (State financial analysis of refugee resettlement costs doesn't add up, January 11) this weekend in his home-town paper, The Tennessean, pointing out the absurdity of the claimed results from a study, commissioned by a state legislative committee, that refugees not only aren't a burden on Tennessee's taxpayers, they pay about twice as much in taxes as they collect in state-supplied public benefits.

Barnett packs a lot of facts into his 635-word piece, facts that effectively torpedo the shoddy work encompassed in the study.  For example:

The federal welfare program SSI is a good indicator of long-term welfare dependency rates. It is generally a lifetime entitlement and usually includes Medicaid and other social services. The federal study of [refugee] arrivals over the previous five years found an 11.6 percent rate of usage — about 2.5 times the national average.
