British police, The New York Times reported, “were not ready” to release the name of the terror suspect in yesterday's attack in London, but the Daily Mirror posted the first photo of the terror suspect in yesterday's attack in London.

We didn't have a name at first, but we did have a face. The complexion and appearance are no surprise.

The Independent published his photo as well, as did the Express and others.

He's now been named by police as Khalid Masood.

The terrorist who killed three people and injured 29 in London has been named as Khalid Masood.

Masood, 52, was born in Kent and detectives believe he was most recently living in the West Midlands. Masood was also known by a number of aliases.

Police say Masood was not the subject of any current investigations and there was no prior intelligence about his intentions to mount a terrorist attack.

Detectives say he was known to police and has a range of previous convictions for assaults, including GBH,[Grievous Bodily Harm] possession of offensive weapons and public order offences.

You're going to be hearing more about him being born in Britain, but at least the NYT, which flashed this breaking news on their iPhone app, didn't call him a "Briton".

Meanwhile, Prime Minister Theresa May burbled the usual bromides about the wonderfulness of Islam.

Fox News:

British officials did not release the attacker's identity or confirm a link with the Islamic State group, though May did say it would be wrong to describe the attack as “Islamic” extremism.

“It is Islamist terrorism,” she said. “It is a perversion of a great faith.”

Whom the gods would destroy, they first make mad.
