The redoubtable Daniel Horowitz writes in Conservative Reviewwhere he moved after leaving Red State

Lie #1: Every President has Taken Executive Action on Immigration: No other president has ever issued an amnesty of anywhere near this scope, created it out of thin air, or built it upon a prior executive action instead of a statute. And in the case of President Eisenhower, his executive action was to deport 80,000 illegal immigrants.

Top 10 Lies from Obama's Nullification Speech, By: Daniel Horowitz, November 21st, 2014

This reminds me of something I wrote in 2006:

Last night I was talking to Bob Park, who as a young Border Patrolman took part in Operation Wetback. He pointed out that Eisenhower didn't have to pass any laws.

Being an illegal alien was already illegal. All it took was for the President of the United States to decide that something should be done, and then do it.

Unfortunately, the reverse is also the case.

The "reverse" was the Bush Administration deciding not to do something—specifically, interior enforcement against employers—and after amnesty was decisively rejected in Bush's second term, the Bush Administration went back to deporting people.

Bush never even considered doing what Obama is doing.
