Every day, I half expect to see a report confirming what a long suspected, that Salon is actually a Long Con by Alt Right operatives trying to create the most hysterical and intellectually vacuous image of the American Left possible. So it's almost unfair to note this, but I couldn't help myself.

Scott Eric Kaufman is one of those people I truly hope is cynically peddling faux outrage in order to make a decent living. If he is actually triggered by these things he writes about, I don't know how he makes it through the day.

Today's crime against humanity is the hashtag #ColumbusWasAHero. Kaufman kvetches:

Despite the fact that it’s pretty much inarguable at this point that Christopher Columbus was a monster of historical proportions — the debate is, at this point, how great of one he was, comparatively speaking — there are many people who still vehemently defend him as a sort of sad proxy of their childhood or ideology.[Twitter embraces - and unloads on - the #ColumbusWasAHero hashtag campaignOctober 12, 2015]

There follows the typical Point and Sputter treatment as Kaufman declares he is shocked, just shocked at right wingers posting obviously true things such as: "Dear Columbus: thank you for helping civilize this continent. We are better off for it."

Happy Columbus Day everyone. #ColumbusWasAHero. And as long as the real America remains, we'll honor the Admiral of the Ocean Sea.

The Nina, the Pinta, and the Santa Maria
