I was amused to see Peter Wehner
there (standing, far right [sic
Wehner was, and for all I know still is, a champion of George W. Bush’s “compassionate conservatism,” a typically gormless Bush scheme to improve the GOP vote among women (“Look—we’re compassionate!”) and minorities (“We like you! We really do! Here’s a billion dollars!”)
Back in 2010 I fought a couple of rounds with Wehner over his support for Bush’s PEPFAR (President's Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief) initiative. The whole bout is logged here
