A Reader Who Wants More Immigration Says the Bible Is His Inspiration; We Quote Back

Re: Joe Guzzardi's Column: An Easter Reminder to Roger Cardinal Mahony—Thou Shalt Not Bear False Witness

It never ceases to perplex and infuriate me that the Roman Catholic Church, and the US Conference of Bishops, believes that American citizens owe illegal immigrants access to everything we have built here.

In our carpenters union, dominated by Catholic activists, it has become difficult to get a job while illegals steadily take over our trade. And Catholics applaud this.

When I was working, I gave money to organizations that help people in Latin America as well as other countries.

Look at this link to Latin American Missions that shows how thoroughly Americans are already involved in reaching out. But yet they have to come to the U.S. illegally and take my job?

People who migrate to our country may be some of the most desperate and antagonistic elements of their cultures.

I am afraid that the talking heads in our society, who have nothing to lose—in comparison with those of us in skilled trades—will never understand or admit this.

Please continue to inform people as to what is really going on.
