Re: Don Collins' Column: More On The Bordergate Two: Democrat Shocked By The Lack Of Liberal Support For Ramos and Compean

I am a liberal Democrat and a party precinct chair in Texas.

Many of us who are liberals who are outraged at the treatment of border patrol agents Ignacio Ramos and Jose Compean. I personally attended the rally in their support. [Protestors Call For Agents Freedom, By Karisa King, San Antonio Express-News, July 1, 2007]

One of the problems in getting more Democrats behind Ramos and Compean is that liberals hate the prominent Republicans like the Minutemen and Congressman Tom Tancredo who are leading the charge for them.  Democrats are so concerned with not joining forces with those they disagree with politically that they allow injustice go on.

I hate that blind party loyalty since it is exactly what conservatives do. Injustice is not confined to one political party or another. That is what is at the heart of the liberal outlook.  We should protest any injustice no matter whom it is directed at.

It is good to note that the union is wholeheartedly behind the two agents. This kind of cooperation can attract more liberal support and eventually destroy the case for upholding their convictions against these two men.

Tell Collins to keep up the good work. I am doing the most I can do to help out.
