If Signor X is upset that Mexicans are called Latinos, he must be doubly put out that he has been dubbed an "Anglo". The term has fallen out of use but in the 70`s in California the term was applied to anyone but those of Mexican descent, who were in those days often referred to by the blessedly obsolete term "Chicano". I`m as white as they come but not at all English and found the term a bit galling.

The "Anglos" then were not people of English descent, but actually in large part the descendants of those who had learned English upon coming here. What a concept. We should all be Anglos!
