03/05/07 - A Reader Reports Being Purged

From: A Southern Reader

Porter Paint Company of Louisville, Kentucky (subsidiary of Pittsburgh Paint Company) deserves the Corporate Linguistic Patriot Award of The Year for wasting the least amount of effort on bilingual consumer labeling.

I was reading the warning, technical, and usage instructions labeling (very detailed and extensive) on several of their one gallon cans of paint thinners/industrial solvents.  The first and only line of text in Spanish appears at the very beginning of the instructions and translates to: "WARNING: If you don't know English, get somebody to translate the following instructions for you before attempting to use this product."
