Re: Joe Guzzardi's Column: Immigration Help Is On The Way To New York—Maybe

In what some Albany analysts interpret as a signal that Governor David Paterson is about to resign, last week he pardoned Qing Ho Wu, a Chinese immigrant.

Wu, 29, had been held in federal custody since he admitted on his citizenship application that he committed a string of robberies over a decade ago. [Dave pardons ex-hood, By Fredric U. Dicker And Georgett Roberts, NY Post, March 7, 2010]

According to an anonymous state senior official about Paterson, "It smells like he's clearing the decks." Typically, pardons of this nature are done on the way out the door.

Paterson has always had a soft spot in his heart for illegal immigrants as he proved two years ago when he falsely charged that an Ecuadorian alien murdered was a "hate crime" victim.

Castiglione, a Democrat, wrote previously about how illegal aliens become entrenched in government jobs. Read his letter here.
