PETER BRIMELOW THANKS VDARE.COM READERS—ALMOST THERE!

By Peter Brimelow, Editor, VDARE.COM

Tonight we are opening VDARE.COM as we reach the end of our Spring 2010 Emergency Appeal. Scroll to the bottom of this page and enter via the link just below the Donate information.

I want to thank those of you have responded from the bottom of my heart.

We have not quite reached our $50,000 target. As I write, we have some $48,390. But we hope additional donations might get us there by the time you read this.

And we really can't stand not posting anymore—there are simply too many targets.

I spent Saturday evening—VDARE.COM is a 24/7 job—writing to many of you who responded to our Appeal and reading many of your comments.

It's actually a deeply moving experience. As I've noted before, judging from their last names there's a fair amount of "diversity" among our donors—notwithstanding the fears of some of our supposed allies.

More importantly, it's all too clear that there is a lot of pain in America today—and a determination, even among those least able to contribute, that the American nation should survive.

Sample comments:

·       Hi, I'm a college student so I'm low on funds, but I hope every bit counts.

·       I'm disabled and live on a small fixed income, yet I think what VDARE.COM does is important, not only to society but to my own survival as well, that it merits at least ten bucks from me.

·       Can't do it without you!

·       Here's my second $50 contribution to the current VDARE.COM fund raising campaign. VDARE.COM is a voice in the wilderness!

·       Been unemployed for two years, or I'd do more [$100 donation]

·       Keep up the good work, my fellow Americans.

·       With three kids, this is all I could spare. I hope it helps and keep fighting!

·       Best of luck. Me, I'm emigrating to Japan with my Japanese wife and son, but do keep up the good fight while we are gone.

·       Though it's not the amount I wish I could contribute, I want to make my stand that your voice is not silenced. Good luck!

At VDARE.COM, we want to keep up the good fight, although we have to do some hard thinking as to how.

Many of you asked for more details about the major donor that plunged us into crisis by abruptly withdrawing its support, allegedly at the behest of "Beltway immigration reform groups" who claimed our lack of Political Correctness might impede their lobbying efforts. (Which, of course, have been disastrously unsuccessful).

I'm still not ready to disclose what I am finding out about this—and what it means for the future of the patriotic immigration reform movement.

But I will.

One particularly generous ($500) reader wrote encouragingly:

·       Keep up the good work, I can see much that is going our way now!

Of course, he's right. Just in the last month:

·       President Obama's amnesty drive appears derailed, almost certainly because of the serious primary challenge faced by Senator John McCain;

·       Arizona's anti-illegal alien SB 1070 ignited elite hysteria, but is proving immensely popular with voters—so much so that the embattled Governor of Arizona is moving to capitalize on it in her re-election campaign, to the great interest of political hacks everywhere;

·       Almost unnoticed outside of California, gubernatorial candidate Steve Poizner is dramatically closing in on his far better-funded rival for the GOP nomination because of his embrace of SB 1070.

Note that all of these hopeful developments originate outside the Beltway. That's why what VDARE.COM does, in feeding the grassroots with facts and arguments, is more important than any amount of Beltway lobbying lunches.

I will write more about VDARE.COM's future in the next weeks. Meanwhile, we've posted a lot while the site has been closed. Please enjoy—and do help us get over that $50,000 hurdle if you possibly can.

My deepest thanks,

Peter Brimelow
