VDARE.com: Kira and Ulrich say: Give to VDARE.COM NOW! P-U-L-E-E-Z-E!

P-U-L-E-E-Z-E!

Kira and Ulrich say:

Give to VDARE.COM NOW! P-U-L-E-E-Z-E!

Peter Brimelow writes: I've been fired. The VDARE Foundation's Executive Directrix, Crystal, who belongs to Kira, above left, thinks my fundraising appeals are not appealing enough. So I'm handing over to her.

Executive Directrix Crystal writes:

Hi.  I feel the need to introduce myself, as most of you will never have heard of or from me.  My name is Crystal, and I am not a writer.  (Do they have a 12-step program for that?  Probably not…) I handle the financial side of the VDare Foundation.

So when you see these very serious fund raising appeals from Peter Brimelow, you can be sure that I have been poking, pestering, and wringing my hands while yelling at him THAT WE HAVE NO MONEY.   I cannot make payroll.

Now I want to be positive. It's Christmas time, my favorite time of the year—the time when I get to spend time with my loved ones and good friends.  A time when there is ample time at family gatherings to chat about what's gone on in the year, a time when I have a captive audience.

I like having a captive audience!—it means that I can say:

"Hey, did you hear about that Asian immigrant kid who beheaded a girl in the middle of the Virginia Tech (of all places) campus?"  (See Brenda Walker's VDARE.COM article, April 5, 2009).

Or:

"Say, can you believe that African refugee gang in Virginia that tried to get rich by going to people's houses and kidnapping rich white women? Thank God the idiots got caught the first time they tried it, because the woman slammed the door on one of the guys' hands!" (See Brenda Walker's VDARE.COM blog, November 5, 2009)

And when they say "NO, I didn't see that on the TV news", I can point out that the Main Stream Media just doesn't report on things it finds distasteful.

I usually get a nasty look from my mother-in-law. But it gives my father-in-law something to bring up with his friends.

That is what VDARE.COM is about—the free dissemination of truthful information about America's ongoing immigration disaster throughout our society.

VDARE.COM is willing to look at the facts about immigration, draw rational conclusions AND report them—unlike Main Stream Media, and unlike many of our counterparts.

But why am I telling you what you already know?

Why am I telling you anything at all, seeing as I handle the finances, and I'm not a writer?

Well, my friend, I am glad you asked.  See above. It's because I can't make payroll.

At this exact point in time, VDare has $7,348.16 in its bank account.  But, between payroll, expenses, our yearly audit, and the website redesign we started, the bills due this month total $42,000.

Yes, I did say 42 thousand.  So, I need to pray that somehow, some way, someone(s) decides to donate about $35,000 this month—or Peter will be paying expenses, once again, from his savings and other income.

I'll worry about January's bills in January.  Maybe by then one of our grant proposals will finally come back with some good news.  (Or maybe we'll find advertisers willing to publish ads on our site. Or, heck, a credit card company willing to give our Foundation a credit card already!!).

And you ask: "How did you get into that position?  $42,000 is a lot!"

Let me tell you – it wasn't from lack of trying.

First off, one of the large grants we depend on was cut in half this year.  And our donations from individuals are also down.  Times are tough.

Peter's lovely wife and I have sent out a TON of grant requests in the past six months at the invitation of the many foundations who say they believe in us.  (Yes, here we make everyone work—though I'm still trying to figure out how to get Kira, my Boxer, and Ulrich, the Brimelows' new German Shepherd pup, to pitch in instead of lying under my desk all day)

(Peter declines to ask his cats)

Yet we receive rejections, because of the current market. One came in last week. The foundation executive said:

"In my mind, there is no question that VDare is doing a responsible job of awakening those who use the internet and its various outlets for information, information that bypasses major media outlets, and information that is well documented has merit not only in its presentation but in its purposes."

But then he went on to say:

"Our financial situation has been eroded somewhat as a consequence of various pressures on the market causing a decline in our asset base."

He ended with:

"Personally, I like what you do and the way you go about doing it, Peter.  I wish you every success."

In other words – while we are awesome, we aren't getting any funding from this foundation to keep us up and running.

Every time we send out a grant request. I REALLY feel like we are going to receive the grant.

And I have to tell you, we are all a bit crushed when we don't.  Like, pass the Ben and Jerry's crushed.

Unlike some, we do not have millions in the bank.  When our finances get tough, Peter stands by his convictions and takes a pay cut.  He understands that he will have to go without a paycheck for the month – too many of you can empathize with this situation, due to the economy.  And Peter will continue to pay for the basic costs of running the site—monthly server fees, long distance calls, office expenses, postage, etc.  These are costs VDARE.COM reimburses to Peter—but these expenses have not been reimbursed in over 6 months due to our financial situation.  Someday we should be able to reimburse him… at least that's what I keep telling his wife.

So we need a solution to stop VDARE.COM's bleeding.

The first option is the easiest, and least distasteful to us.  We need those of you who have not stepped up before to donate.  We have loyal donors who give, year after year, even after losing their jobs, because they have strong convictions.  But in 2009, only a total of 400 people have donated.

We have over 500,000 user sessions on our site a monthand over 2 million page views.  When you look at these numbers, it becomes very apparent that many of you read our site but don't think that donating is necessary.  But the truth is, without more donations, we may not be around for much longer.

If only a fraction of our monthly readers would donate $50 once a year—it's tax deductible!—VDARE.COM would stop bleeding. Make it even more palatable by setting up a recurrent donation of $4.17 once a month!   (Many thanks to those of you who already donate monthly).

But it doesn't seem that is going to happen.  The fact of the matter is, only about 1% of you have ever donated.  This year, only one half of that 1% have donated.

There is, of course, a second option for us, but it is one that we find very distasteful.  We could turn VDARE.COM into a pay site.  We only need a fraction of our readership to pay $10 a month to have access to our site to end our funding crisis.

Unfortunately, it would also kill our purpose—of educating the American public by providing facts and stories that others are too afraid to publish.

So what can we do to get you to help us?

Well, my only bright idea (other than charging for the site!) is to offer our 2009 Anthology for donations of $100.00 or more.  We are just completing it, and will be sending it to the printers on Thursday.  (Of course, we'll be sending it to all our kind friends who have donated $100 and up in this current drive).

Here's the unedited cover:

Donate $100.00. and as soon as we have the books (which are over 100 pages), we will send you a copy.  Donate $1,000.00 and I will make every writer that is in the anthology sign it the book before I mail it to you.

Heck, for a $10,000 donation, I will make Peter hand deliver the Anthology to you—and take you to dinner!

(Sorry, Peter, desperate times and all that…).

Let's go crazy! for $50,000.00 I will make any of the authors featured in the anthology hand deliver it to you AND take you out for dinner. (Got that guys?  I've said it, so now you have to do it!)

If you believe in what VDARE.COM stands for, you MUST donate at this critical time.

We can't go on without your help!

But with your help, we can change the world.

Many thanks!

C
