VDARE. COM columnist Joe Guzzardi received five first-place blue ribbons in three different baking categories at this year's San Joaquin County Fair. [1]
His Chocolate Frosted Triple Chocolate Brownies with Dried Cherries won first place in the brownies category. His recipes for Vermont Apple Bread, Decadent Double Chocolate Banana Bread and Old-Fashioned Scottish Orange Current Scones took first place in the quick breads category. Finally, Guzzardi’s California Fruit Cake took first place in the cakes, non-layer category.
The story in the Lodi News-Sentinel, where his column also appears is here [2].
In addition, the Lodi Living section of the News-Sentinel published a special feature on cupcakes that included Guzzardi’s childhood memories regarding those treats here. [3]
Also available: Joe's recipe for White Mountain Chocolate Cupcakes [4], which won an award at the 2005 California State Fair. [5]
