Trayvon Martin: Don’t you dare call the colored “little boy” “colored”!

George Zimmerman: White enough

Note that the pretext for the brouhaha and for firing Eisner was that she used the word “colored.” First of all, what’s wrong with “colored”? When I was a child, colored and white folks both used it. It’s a perfectly innocent term. And today, blacks use “person of color” all the time, which is just a disingenuous way of saying “colored.” The issue can’t possibly be that “colored” is anachronistic, since blacks sneeringly use the equally anachronistic “Caucasian” all the time, instead of “white.” The issue with a white using “colored” or “negro” is that our black masters have forbidden it.

Tomorrow, they could forbid using “African-American,” and punish a white for using it. At any moment, blacks will routinely claim that any word a white uses is “racist,” just to terrorize him.

In 1989, in a conversation with a black colleague named Donna, I referred to a black foster mom as a “church lady,” then a well-known phrase referring to a particular kind of black foster mother who networks through her church, being recruited into being a foster mother by her church lady friends, and in turn recruiting other church lady friends. The “church ladies” resolutely refused to abide by the laws and rules they were obliged to follow (such as never hitting the foster children in their care), and they taught each each other to repeat, Stepford Wife-like, the same phrases: “I never hit the children. I only take away privileges.” (They all hit the children!)

My black colleague, Donna, knew all that, and yet when I said of one of my black foster mothers, “She’s a church lady”—every one of them was black, but not all were church ladies—she accused me of “racism.” And until that moment, we had had very cordial relations! I told her never to speak to me again. Today, a “Donna” would have me fired for less.

That incident is also a microcosm of race relations. The black you thought you had a friendly relationship with can turn on you at any moment.

And why did Eisner not get into trouble for calling George Zimmerman “white”?

No, the real reason Eisner got fired was for her honesty, which had her depict the Trayvon Martin Hoax as a racial fairy tale.

The Daily Texan, the student newspaper at the University of Texas, has booted cartoonist Stephanie Eisner two days after her eyebrow-raising illustration of Trayvon Martin created all kinds of controversy. Eisner's cartoon depicted a mother reading a book about Martin to a kid with an unfortunate 'sex-doll' appearance. Anyway, the mom describes Martin as "the handsome, sweet innocent COLORED BOY," a C-word that led to widespread C-riticism of Eisner, the Texan and its staff. "The decision to run the cartoon showed a failure in judgment," the Texan's editorial board wrote. "We sincerely apologize for publishing the cartoon and for the harm that decision caused."
