This has been pointed out before, but Mexican beauty pageants regularly pick winners from the European end of the Mexican racial spectrum.  The Nuestra Belleza México pageant was held on October 20th, and guess what?  Both winners were white.

Daniela Alvarez Daniela Alvarez, above, won the right to represent Mexico in the Miss World pageant, see more of her photos here.   Josselyn Garciglia Bañuelos (below) won the right to represent Mexico in the Miss Universe pageant, see her photos here.

Not that I would tell Mexicans how to choose their own beauty queens.  The Nuestra Belleza México pageant (directed  by former Mexican Miss Universe Lupita Jones, photo here) can choose any winners they like.  But it's interesting how Mexico and other countries routinely favor the light-skinned beauty queens while in the Miss America pageant, failure to have some non-white winners every so often would elicit cries of racism.  See  The First Indian Miss America - "Too Dark" To Be Miss India?
