Here in the Northwest—Washington, Oregon, and Northern California—the Federal Government plans to shoot thousands to stop the displacement of the existing population. But before there are cries of “racism!” and “genocide!”, it should be noted that spotted owls are the existing population and that barred owls are the race threatening to displace them.
Strange that the Feds think there is some principle that existing populations should not be displaced—but only when it comes to animals—for the American people, the accepted policy is that a new people should be elected. If only we were owls.
