It occurs to me that the central stance of most liberals (and even mainstream conservatives) on immigration can best be summed up by fictional anchorman Kent Brockman in this clip from "The Simpsons" entitled, "I, for one, welcome our Insect Overlords:"

It is the epitome of what writer Jim Goad correctly diagnoses as "Passover Syndrome" or the type of individual Steve Sailer labels an "Uncle Tim."

James Fulford writes: Kent Brockman has, I find, made four appearances in VDARE.com, but he never gets old. (Instapundit uses “I, for one, welcome…” on a regular basis.)

We even printed Brockman's picture (right). The episode is “Deep Space Homer” [1994] and it really is relevant.

What Brockman is seeing in a magnified ant—blown up very large on a telescope.

Because it’s magnified, he assumes it’s huge, and dominating. A "master race of giant space ants," in fact. It’s the same with the Hispanic Vote. You hear so much about it that you forget that (a) there aren’t that many Hispanics, and (b) they don’t vote much.

Over to you, Kent!

Kent Brockman: "[Grimly] One thing is for certain: there is no stopping them; the ants will soon be here. [Suddenly ingratiating] And I for one welcome our new insect overlords. I'd like to remind them that as a trusted TV personality, I can be helpful in rounding up others to toil in their underground sugar caves."
