I enjoy reading Rubenstein's articles about immigration and especially the non-immigrant H-1B visa problem, if for no other reason than to know that someone really realizes what's happening to American workers.

I've been doing Oracle work since 1988. Last week, I landed a contract in St. Louis with a very large client. A week went by and a recruiter called me to tell me my client hadn't signed the contract yet.

Then after another week later the recruiter told me that Oracle Corp. representatives went to my client directly to ask:

"Why in the world would you have customizations done to our product here in the United States? You should have the work performed by the people in India that wrote the original product."

Unbelievable! My client hired Indian citizens at Oracle's urging.

Now Oracle is using the fact that they've been able to get enough H-1B's into the US to get the knowledge and then send them back to India to undercut American programmers.

And Congress doesn't see a problem with this?

Basically globalization has benefited the America's hyper-rich and Indian citizens at the expense of the American middle class.

This is pure madness. I can't understand why more people don't see this.
