Re: Joe Guzzardi's Column: Ding, Dong, The Bill Is Dead (Probably)

Although I thought it was a fair deal, I too hail the collapse of the "Grand Bargain" I also think we will get a better deal from President Hillary Clinton or Barack Obama in 2009. Even Newt Gingrich is forecasting another Republican butt-kicking at the polls!

To be sure, not all Democratic senators are on the same page on immigration, but there are more than enough reasonable Republican senators to make up the difference. Think John McCain (now derisively called Juan Mex-Cain in many Arizona political blogs.

So, let the issue roil and boil until January 2009! It will forge a distinct Mexican-American identity.

Sure, we will suffer many, many casualties, so to speak, but it will also spur a huge turn out on Election Day

Bottom line; we're gonna win!

We are the future. We are America!

Remember Columbus, the first illegal alien!

Joe Guzzardi Replies: Maybe Izcoatl, who says he is as "American as anyone else including those of English or Italian descent" is right…but only maybe. The fact is that by the time 2008 rolls around, there could be more Democrats who have seen the immigration light. And don't keep counting on "reasonable" Republicans. As I wrote in my most recent column, the trend, driven by the grass roots, is on our side.

And ask Steve Sailer about the "huge turn out on Election Day"…among Hispanics…one of the biggest myths in electoral politics.
