In recent weeks the PRC bragged about how much of the American west coast it could easily nuke, as shown in the map following.

I could not help but notice that not one of the ground zero locations for Chinese nuclear strikes was located in the southern states of America.

What do you think accounts for the neglect of the Chinese to consider the South fit targets to vaporize? Are they secret Confederates? Did they become fans of Dukes of Hazzard reruns on cable?

Did the similarity between bluegrass and traditional Chinese music strike a sympathetic chord? Can Derbyshire provide an answer?

I know the answer will not be inscrutable, but turn out to be more rocket science and ballistics oriented, but it is fun to ponder.
