I have lived in Salinas my entire life. Salinas used to be an American city, now it is a foreign country.

The majority of Salinas' residents cannot speak English.

Gang bangers openly stare down people from their vehicles while their rap and hip-hop trash blares from their stereos.

When language is reduced to filth and descriptions of what one intends to do sexually to his "ho", society breaks down into lawlessness. This is Salinas today.

Mayor Anna Caballero [e-mail her] has governed passively, letting law-breakers have their way. Until society can communicate positive messages in one language, silence would be better.

When my daughter goes to college, I'll leave Salinas and never return.

The face of Monterey County is changing.
