The ultimate fate of Judge Susan Bolton's decision to block the key portions of S.B. 1070 will play out before the Supreme Court.

Provisions Bolton eliminated from the bill are:

  • Sections requiring officers to check a person's immigration status while enforcing other laws

  • The requirement that immigrants to carry their papers at all times

  • The provision that made it illegal for undocumented workers to solicit employment in public places.

Bolton (President Barack Obama's) clear message: the federal government refuses to protect Americans against rampant illegal immigration.

The short-term consequences are certain. In November, the Democrats will be swept out of office.

And even though voter's memories are short, 2012 may not be far enough away for Obama to recover from his long list of leftist offenses.

My daily newspaper, the Washington Post, one of America's most liberal, ran a non-scientific poll: "Arizona Immigration Law: Did Judge Do the Right Thing?" Answer: No, 77 percent; yes, 22 percent.

The sentiment across America against Obama and Bolton may be even higher.
