Executive Directrix Crystal's owner Kira says: Give Now Or I'll Bite You!

Peter Brimelow writes: I've been fired. The VDARE Foundation's Executive Directrix, Crystal, thinks it's my fault that our Spring fundraising is slow—my appeals are not appealing enough. So I'm handing over to her—and, alas, closing the site until we get closer to our $30,000 goal. Many thanks to the friends who have helped already.

Here I am again.  I'm starting to feel like maybe you guys WANT me to be a writer—given that at every appeal ,I now have to come at you, waving my arms, jumping up and down and yelling.   

I have to tell you, I much prefer budgets, numbers AND PAYING WRITERS to writing.   

Now I'm pregnant—so I have the crying thing down pretty well!

And I'm working on getting good at yelling—but I don't think that will really get me what we need. 

What DO we need, you ask? 

We need MORE of YOU our loyal, faithful, wonderful readers to become loyal, faithful, wonderful DONORS.   

We love that you read our site—it gives Peter Brimelow warm fuzzy feelings. But without you also donating, there can't be a site for you to read.

A blunter way of putting it: we have enough freeloaders in America already—stop being one!  (Ouch – I know—harsh, right?  But it's true!)

On our blog alone, which is much less read than the main site, we had 29,620 different users visiting last month.  If each of those people gave just one dollar today—I could leave you alone until Christmas. 

If each of them gave one single dollar a month – they could use our handy Monthly donation feature here—we would never have to run another appeal. 

And that's just if people reading only the BLOG donated.

If we move over to the VDARE.com website itself, well, that gets over 1.5 million page views every month.  We can only estimate how many individual readers because our internal tracking software for the website is antiquated AND WE HAVE NOT YET BEEN ABLE TO AFFORD A REDESIGN. But it's some hundreds of thousands—and that's not counting everyone reading email-a-friend.

If they gave a dollar tomorrow, not only would we not need to ask for money for our monthly payroll and bills, but would be able to hold conferences quarterly, and not charge a dime for them. 

We would be able to publish even MORE! And maybe Peter wouldn't have to work 12 hour days, 7 days a week. 

The sad truth is that we have a few extremely loyal donors—less than a thousand—who help keep us up and running for all of you freeloaders who read VDARE.com 

Let me put it graphically:

If it were up to me, my solution to this would be: make VDARE.com a pay site.  Charge a small fee and make it available to those who actually care enough to donate. 

Peter HATES this solution—and insists that we stay a free site so that EVERYONE can know the truth, and so that there is more than just the Main Stream Media's stripped-down and fluffed-up version out there.  

Fortunately for you – he's the boss, so… I must give in on this point. 

For now. 

But I have won one battle.  This appeal is staying up until we raise $30,000. 

It will take as long as you make it take. 

At the rate it's going now, the appeal will be up for another month. But I was hoping this would be over quick and easy, in about 10 days.  

Please change your status from loyal, faithful, wonderful, freeloading reader to loyal, faithful wonderful DONOR!!
