Tea Party Haters Threaten To Emigrate--To Largely White Foreign Cities

Over at Gawker, some of their hipsters are thinking of leaving the country if there's a major Republican/Tea Party Victory:

Five Foreign Cities to Move to When the Tea Party Takes Over America

Balm In Gilead: On Election 2010

I've never seen such a line at the polling place in my rural New England whitopia (which is nevertheless--or maybe therefore--deep Blue). In fact, I've never seen any line at all.

"Second generation Immigrants in Europe are de-assimilating"

Here's an important post by Tino at Super-Economy on a new study giving employment rates in three big European countries. For example:

Germany

Native Men: 75.3%
First generation non-European immigrant Men: 68.5%
Second generation non-European immigrant Men: 53.9%

Much of the immigration to Europe can be characterized as welfare fraud

Halloween and the Election--Who Got the Goodies

Ever since I was a kid Halloween used to be my second favorite day of the year next to Christmas. In one evening I could manage to collect at least a grocery bag full of candy. It was a fun adventure to go through the neighborhood collecting the booty and in the process all of us kids learned something about our neighbors, and perhaps sociology. As I canvassed the streets for candy I swore that when I was an adult I would be generous to the trick-or-treaters so that future generations of kids could have as much joy as I felt on that one crazy night of the year.

Siccing the Disciplinary Dogs on Andrew Shirvell, Esq.

From Above the Law I learn that the openly gay president of the Michigan student body, Chris Armstrong, is seeking bar discipline against Andrew Shirvell, an assistant attorney general who's been put on leave for criticizing Armstrong. According to Armstrong's attorney, one Deborah Gordon, Shirvell's anti-gay stance makes him "immature" and unfit to practice law. Above the Law doesn't mention specific violations of the ethics code, but would it matter if there were?
